Master Executive Council (MEC) System Board of Adjustment
AFA-CWA representation on the System Board of Adjustment consists of two Members, and three Alternates. The Members serve on the System Board of Adjustment to arbitrate any disputes or Grievances that may arise under the terms of the United Airlines Flight Attendant Contract. Board Members assist in the development and presentation of the annual United Master Executive Council (MEC) Grievance training and they are responsible for updating the System Board Index every six months. Alternates fill in for Board members who are absent.
All MEC Committees represent the MEC and will support MEC positions when interacting with the Company and Flight Attendants. They carry out the responsibilities of their Committee/Position and shall support and adhere to the AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws, as well as the AFA-CWA United MEC Rules of Procedure, and Policy.
Positions to be elected:
- One Member for a 2-year term (August 1, 2017 through July 31, 2019)
- One First-Alternate for a 2-year term (August 1, 2017 through July 31, 2019)
- One Third-Alternate for a 2-year term (August 1, 2017 through July 31, 2019)
Previous Grievance experience, strong knowledge of the Contract, communication and computer skills, effective leadership and administrative abilities are recommended. Travel is required.
The Election will be conducted at the Spring Regular MEC Meeting
