Dear Mayor Emanuel & the Chicago City Council:

On behalf of the 25,000 Members of the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA, AFL-CIO at United Airlines, we write to express our unequivocal support for the expansion plan for O’Hare International Airport. This expansion is necessary to ensure the continued growth of the vital air transport industry in Chicago.

The bold vision that is driving these expansion plans is commendable and, when realized, will enhance the travel experience of the millions of fliers who pass through the airport each year.  Our Members, as employees of Chicago’s Hometown Airline, share a level of confidence that this expansion plan will increase O’Hare’s stature in the industry as a true, world-class airport.

We are convinced that this visionary expansion plan will benefit all of the carriers operating at the airport in terms of growth opportunity and operational improvements.  This will enhance not only the job security for our Members but will increase the need for employees providing additional job opportunities for the Chicago area.  This will also provide a commensurate, major economic boost to the city as well as the working people of Chicago and their families.

A vital and vibrant O’Hare becomes yet another jewel of the City of Chicago.  The airport benefits not only our Members but also a countless number of other airline and concession employees who work every day to deliver positive and dependable service to our customers.

With great enthusiasm, we look forward to seeing a revitalized O’Hare come to life.

 Sincerely,

Ken Diaz
