United Pilots Ratify New Contract

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today we congratulate the pilots from Continental and United Airlines, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), on the ratification of a new combined Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Their new Agreement will unify pilots at United Airlines under a single Agreement that embodies the best of the respective groups history.  The new Single Contract provides improvements in the cornerstones of a Collective Bargaining Agreement with gains in compensation, work rules, job protections and retirement benefits.  The new Contract goes into effect immediately with certain provisions being implemented over time; and the pilots next step is the integration of their seniority lists.

With the pilots Agreement now in place, this moves United management one significant step closer towards a fully integrated United Airlines.  This brings everyone involved in United’s merger closer to the finish line as well.  The more combined Agreements that are put in place, the greater the pressure to carry the ball forward and reach the final goal together.

Now, we expect management to turn their attention to concluding Single Contracts with the other work groups and dedicating their attention and resources to concluding an Agreement for Flight Attendants in the New Year.

In Solidarity,

Greg Davidowitch, President
United Master Executive Council
