Ladies and Gentlemen:
Happy Holidays.
During this season of hope and renewal we are grateful for the
incredible community of individuals who are the United Flight Attendants. For some, celebration of the holidays is a
personal time spent with family and friends in reflection of all the season has
to offer and for those who work on the holiday it is time spent with co-workers
earning our Contractual holiday pay.
There are many ways to celebrate the season, and we know as
Flight Attendants you exemplify the spirit of the season in everything you do
throughout the entire year. Holiday
travel to many passengers means a hectic, rushed and crowded experience in
their travel to loved ones. Without
doubt, the thoughtful and considerate compassion offered by our community is a
balm to those both in our care and with whom we work. We encourage you to appreciate the spirit of
the holidays within yourself and your flying partners. In doing so, we share with each other the
very best of who we are as United Flight Attendants.
As this year comes to a close, we do so with optimism on the
heels of several significant accomplishments.
We have reached an accord with United management on a number of issues
which are important to our community. We
have reached an agreement on our grievance related to Reserve Vacation Pay and
we are also moving forward on a common uniform to be worn by Continental,
Continental Micronesia and United Flight Attendants. We have embarked on a process to address a
substantial backlog of grievance and expect to make significant progress next
year in resolving these issues.
In all that each of you do every day, as United Flight
Attendants, you bring the very best you have to offer. From your entire United Master Executive
Council, and all the dedicated AFA volunteers, we wish you a warm, safe and
joyous Holiday Season.
In Solidarity,
