During a joint meeting of the CAL, CMI and UAL MECs on June 30, 2015, the Flight Attendant leadership unanimously voted to change our official AFA pin to the color red in support of our negotiations. This is now our official AFA pin and we encourage all Members to put it on and wear it until we have a ratified Contract that reflects our contributions at United Airlines.
The full official red AFA pin resolution is included below. Red AFA pins are being delivered across the system right now and will be available in your location no later than July 8, 2015. Look for your pin. Pick it up. Put it on. Show each other and management that we are united for our share of the profits of United Airlines. It's Our Turn and It's Past Time!
Red Unity Pin Resolution
Whereas, since the merger United Airlines is making record profits which to date have not been shared with Flight Attendants;
Whereas, Flight Attendants at United Airlines deserve a Contract which shares the benefits of the merger;
Whereas, in order to reach a Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement management at United Airlines must be willing to put sufficient economic resources into a Flight Attendant Agreement;
Whereas, Membership involvement and engagement is essential to the negotiations and reaching a Contract that Flight Attendants at the combined carrier deserve;
Whereas, the AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws states that the official AFA-CWA Pin may be customized in order to promote Solidarity among the Members in support of collective bargaining and it has become common across the Union to change the color of the AFA pin to red as a signal of support of negotiations.
Therefore be it resolved that the joint MECs of United, CAL and CMI resolve that the official color of the AFA pin shall be changed to red to support Solidarity among the Membership in support of negotiating an agreement that recognizes Flight Attendants’ integral role in the success of United Airlines.
Unanimously Adopted by CAL, CMI and UAL AFA Master Executive Councils
