Join us for a Day of Action to Support Mesa Airlines Flight Attendants – April 25th

Date: April 18, 2017
Type: AFA Article

On Tuesday, April 25th, a Day of Action to support our Sisters and Brothers at Mesa Airlines will take place between 12:00-1:00pm Local Time at the following airports:

  • Chicago (ORD) - Elbow area between Terminals 1 & 2 - Upper Level Departures
  • Dallas (DFW) – Terminal B Between Entrance 30 and 43 – Upper Level Departures
  • Phoenix (PHX) – TBD

After five years of contract negotiations, Mesa Flight Attendants voted on March 29th 99.56% to authorize a strike. Mesa Airlines Flight Attendants operate flights for American Airlines (as American Eagle) and United Airlines (as United Express) and work under a contract borne out of bankruptcy.

When compared to other airlines operating under the American Eagle and United Express brands, Mesa Flight Attendants are not only among the lowest paid, they are 10-20% behind other Regional Airlines operating flights under the same brands.

In addition to compensation below industry standard, Mesa Flight Attendants lack basic scheduling protections taken for granted by other Flight Attendants, and have extraordinarily high healthcare costs for below average coverage.

The low wages and substandard work rules at Mesa set the bar low. Our ability to achieve improvements to our contract are directly and negatively impacted as long as Mesa Flight Attendants are without contract improvements. Their fight is our fight!

Since Mesa Flight Attendants are prohibited from engaging in informational picketing, Flight Attendants from around AFA-CWA will stand in solidarity on April 25th, along with other Union Members to send a strong message that Enough is Enough!  The current working conditions at Mesa must improve and poverty level wages just won’t fly.

Join us April 25th, in uniform, to stand in solidarity with our Sisters and Brothers at Mesa.
