Type: Dear AFA

This week, as we celebrate the U.S. Independence Day holiday in the United States, we trust that you will take a moment to reflect upon the freedom that we celebrate which has been won at the cost of hard work, perseverance and a dedication to that which is right. As has been the history of our great country, we have and always will work to do what is right for the betterment of those entrusted to our care.

Holiday Pay Calculations

Our Contract provides for additional pay for all Flight Attendants on flight assignments during holidays. Holidays are defined by domicile location as well as each Flight Attendant’s birthday. This holiday is one that is specific to the domiciles/bases in the United States and each of our international domiciles celebrate holidays that are unique to the specific countries in which they are located. Twelve of our sixteen Flight Attendant bases/domiciles will share is this designated holiday.

Holiday pay is calculated using a formula that takes into account the number of credited hours flown during the holiday ID and how long you are away from your home during the ID/pairing.

United States and Guam Based Flight Attendants Celebrate Joint Holiday

What is most unique about this Fourth of July holiday and yet another reason to celebrate, is that this is the first holiday that all United States & Guam based Flight Attendants, without regard to pre-merger affiliation, will receive holiday pay at the same time under the negotiated provisions of our Joint Collective Agreement.

Wherever you may be this Fourth of July holiday, working and earning Holiday Pay, spending time with family and friends in celebration or simply taking some time away from the workplace, on behalf of the entire United Master Executive Council, we wish you and yours a very safe and enjoyable summer holiday.
