Scheduling Rules for Special Qualification Flight Attendants

Date: August 10, 2018
Type: AFA Article

Effective with the transition to a common scheduling platform for the October 2018 bid month, the following scheduling provisions for Flight Attendants with Special Qualifications will apply:

International Pursers

Flight Attendants who are assigned International Purser lines, when trading with Open Time, may only trade an International Purser pairing for another International Purser pairing.

International Pursers may pick up and/or trade non-International Purser trips with non-International Purser open time and non-qualified Flight Attendants, subject to the terms of Sections 7.I., 7.J. and 7.K. of the JCBA.

Keep in mind, an International Purser who has picked up from open time other than International Purser open time will be expected to have a minimum of fifty (50) hours of flying [twenty (20) for job shares and partnerships] as an International Purser at the end of the bid month. There is no requirement to have these hours on your line at the time the trade is being conducted.

Language Qualified Flight Attendants (LQFA)

Flight Attendants who are assigned language qualified (LQ) lines, when trading with Open Time, may only trade an LQ trip for another LQ trip in their primary language for that month.

Language Qualified Flight Attendants may pick up and/or trade non-LQ trips with non-LQ open time and non-qualified Flight Attendants, subject to the terms of Sections 7.I., 7.J. and 7.L. of the JCBA.  A Language qualified Flight Attendant will be expected to have a minimum of fifty (50) hours of flying [twenty (20) for job shares and partnerships] of language qualified flying at the end of the bid month if they have picked up from open time other than LQ trips during the month. There is no requirement to have these hours on your line at the time the trade is being conducted.
