New Hires and AFA Buddy Update

We want to extend a warm welcome to Class 1606. They will have orientation tomorrow March 29th and reporting to the line on March 30. We are expecting approximately 200 new hires in Houston. A big thank you to all that have volunteered to become AFA buddies. If you are interested in becoming an AFA buddy but haven't contacted us there is still time. Email us at afaiah@unitedafa.org with your phone number and email information and we will contact you. Some have asked if we can give out the Buddy information before orientation. Unfortunately we are not able to give out their information until after they report.

AFA and CWA Scholarship Deadlines

The Association of Flight Attendants Scholarship Fund is intended to provide financial assistance to dependents of our active members who will be attending a college or university. The deadline of April 10th is fast approaching. for more information please visit afacwa.org/scholarships

The CWA Joe Beirne Scholarship is also available. Fifteen partial college scholarships of $3,000 each are being offered for the 2016-2017 school year. Winners, selected in a lottery drawing, also will receive second-year scholarships of the same amount contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment.  Part-time students, less than 12 credits, will receive half of the scholarship monies.

Eligible for the awards are CWA members and their spouses, children and grandchildren, including those of retired or deceased members. The deadline for submission is April 29th. For more information visit www.cwa-union.org/pages/beirne
