INSIDE THIS ISSUE - May 31, 2016
We hope you had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend! Last week Tony and I returned from a series of weeklong meetings in Atlanta. Some items that may be of interest to you...
Seniority Integration Committee Work
During our week in Atlanta, the Joint MEC (CAL, CMI, UAL) met in order to receive a report from the Seniority Merger Integration Committee (SMIC), of which Tony Wetterer is one of the two UAL members. The SMIC reported on the methodology used, and any training adjustments made, in merging the seniority lists. You can view their report online at http://unitedafa.org/news/details.aspx?id=16967, and should you have any questions, you can contact the SMIC committee directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Action on Agenda Items
From May 23-24th, the 44th annual Meeting of the AFA-CWA Board of Directors met in order to set the priorities of the Union for the upcoming year. This year I worked on the sub-committee for agenda items number 3 and 12, and the BOD deliberated on a total of 14 different Agenda items.
Actions the BOD took on Agenda items can be found on the AFA BOD website at http://afa-bod.org. You can also email me if you have any specific questions.
During the week we also received an update from our Joint Negotiations Committee (JNC) members. While there wasn't’ much to report, please make sure to keep informed of the latest developments at ourcontract.org. Negotiations resume on June 1st.
Last, we would like to take an opportunity to thank everyone who made it out to our picketing event and LEC meeting on May 19th. At this crucial point in our negotiations we all need to show United that we are way past due for a joint Contract! Please mark your calendars, as our next Day of Action will tentatively set for June 16th.
