The Flight Attendant schedule month is 30 days, beginning on July 31st and ending on August 29.
The International flying for August includes MUC, GRU, LIM, HNL as well as Mexico, Central America and Caribbean island flying. IAH will cover both German LQ positions on all days of the week with the exception of Tuesday's and Wednesday's (one position will be covered by IAH on these days). The Domestic flying for August includes continued increase in total number of FA positions as well as increased 3 day And 4 day IDs. Line averages for August are much lower than July in both Domestic (75:59 vs 83:55) and International (76:01 vs 84:06). With these low line averages it was necessary to mix some of the flying (particularly in the International package) in order to meet the company targets/quotas. This was minimized as much as possible and contained mainly to the GRU/ LIM lines.
- Domestic lines A total of 421 Flight Attendant positions (an increase of 59 positions from July) with a line average of 75:59. This total includes 16 qualified Purser lines with wide-body flying, an increase of 5 positions from July.
- International lines A total of 303 Flight Attendant positions (an increase of 21 total Flight Attendant positions from July) with a line average of 76:01. The above total includes 54 Purser qualified positions (an increase of 2), 24 Spanish language qualified positions (no change), 12 German language qualified positions (an increase of 5) and 14 Portuguese language qualified positions (no change).
For the month of July all reserve lines will be built with the contractual minimum of 12 days off.
Reminder: BID TO COVER YOURSELVES
With our increasing domestic flying along with several hundred new hire Flight Attendants with less than one year of active service we have experienced instances of Flight Attendants with more than one year of active service being forced awarded into F position lines. Section 9.C.2, page 58 of our contract covers bidding procedures. "Provided that when the bidding procedure does not fill all premium positions with Flight Attendants of more than one (1) year of active service on the line, the most junior qualified Lineholder with more than one (1) year of active service on the line will be assigned." Please bid to cover yourselves.
ANNUAL SCHEDULE TRAINING
On June 20-23, the Central Schedule Committee conducted its annual training for local schedule committees in Chicago. In attendance for this training from IAH Council 42 were Cory Wise, Kim Hudak, Craig Chilton, Dawn Moragne, and Bettina Jordan. We would like to thank all these members for their time and commitment to serve Council 42 on the local schedule committee. In August the committee will also be adding Luis Castanon to the roster. Luis has been previously trained and has built schedules in San Francisco.
As always, a complete scheduling report is available from the Central Schedule Committee (CSC) on the unitedafa.org website. This monthly report provides more detailed information of all issues pertaining to scheduling in IAH and around the system.
Your IAH schedule committee is always available should you have any questions or concerns.
Fly safe,
Cory, Kim, Craig, Dawn, Bettina, and Luis
