Dear Council 11 Members,

We want to take a minute to remind you of several important things going on around the system. We are quickly approaching the holiday season and we all know how busy this time of year is.  With the November schedule award, many Flight Attendants are holding lines for the first time in their careers. It is an exciting time to be SFO based!

Relief Timeline- Bidding Starts Today!

Bids Open 10-22-2016

Bids Close 10-24-2016 at 0800 PST

Relief line awards come out in just a few hours.

BIDDING FOR CONTINUING QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING (CQ): As soon as relief lines are awarded, please use DIS*885 to enter your bid for CQ class(es). Check the CQ bulletin board or primary cover letter for closing and award dates.

35-7 WAIVERS FOR RELIEF LINES: Relief line legalities are resolved immediately after relief lines are awarded. If you wish to waive 35/7 in relief, you must indicate a waive on the relief bid screen/card. Waiving 35/7 in the primary bid automatically waives 35/7 if you are awarded a relief line.

18.M. VACATION SLIDE If you are awarded relief and have vacation, an 18.M. vacation slide request must be made in advance of the relief bid award. Please call your schedule planner and/or leave a voice mail authorizing them to retain any trip that may be split by your vacation. Your vacation dates and line will be adjusted immediately after the relief award.

TO BID RELIEF:

1. To bid, type RLFBID and enter.

2. Any open premium pay position may go to the most senior person on board, if desired. (Those of you with under a year seniority can be awarded an FS position in RLF but the same rules apply for FAs with under a year whether you are on Reserve or a Lineholder.)

3. No bids and not enough bids will be treated normally. That is, you will be awarded the lowest numbered relief line at your seniority.

4. Awards will be posted in the area normally used for posting each month's line bid awards.

5. When using the RLFBID screens, your seniority bidding number is not required.

6. All relief line work positions will be assigned at time of briefing. Please check your relief line-of-flying after it's available in the computer. If there is any discrepancy, please call the schedule planners.

There are 275 relief line holders. The bid package contains 132 Domestic Lines (lines 1-132), 145 International lines (lines 133-277), and 6 International Language Lines (Lines 278-280 JPN, Lines 281-283 SKO). There are 283 lines total. Once relief closes we will advocate for the remaining 8 lines to be awarded as move-up lines.

Open Enrollment Closes Oct 28th – Make Your Selections

Open enrollment is currently ongoing for active employees and will close on October 28th, 2016. Retirees enrollment dates are October 31, 2016 through November 11, 2016.

We stress the importance of going online to the Your Benefits Resources (YBR) site from the company’s website during Open Enrollment to compare plan summaries, their benefit levels, and monthly premium costs. Keeping in mind that each benefit plan is available for all 24,000 United Airlines Flight Attendants regardless of your pre-merger airline.

Note: The TRICARE Supplemental Plan is a plan that is uniquely designed for those who are military or dependents of military personnel.  What’s unique about this plan is that those who are eligible to participate in the plan know they are eligible.  This plan is not available as a medical plan option unless you are military or the dependent of military personnel.

Note: For 2017, you may see s-UA or s-CO designations for some Kaiser HMO plans. The reason for the two plans is that there were two different plan designs for these HMO plans before the UA/CO merger. The plan group number is different with not all co-pays being the same. Due to contractual requirements for some employee groups, United will continue to offer separate pre-merger UA and pre-merger CAL Kaiser plans until no longer required to do so.

A review of this information is essential as you make decisions and choose the right plans for you and your family. Please visit our website to review the entire report.

For additional information visit our website. You may also contact the United Benefits Call Center for enrollment support, questions, benefit information, and plan summaries at (800) 651-1007.
