• Local Council Meeting Notice

Ladies and Gentlemen of Council 21,

On behalf of the Officers of Council 21, we would like to wish you a very Happy New Year! Our Membership is our most prime asset, and without the support that you provide year in and year out, we could not have achieved the many successes that we have seen over the years. 2016 reminded us that the only constant is change, but through it all you maintained your faith in us and our future together, and for that we are very grateful.

We start 2017 with our freshly combined Council. I would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome the 888 pre-merger Continental Flight Attendants in Washington to Council 21.We anticipate that the coming year will bring with it more in terms of mutual success, as we move towards implementing the entire Joint Contract, including workforce integration. Your newly elected Officers are committed to providing all Council 21 Members with unsurpassed representation, and we will do our best to keep our standards high in the next three years as well.

As of Today, we have combined the "On Call" system to begin with ensuring that all calls will continue to be answered 24/7. We will continue to have a dual Grievance Committee until we are under the same Grievance system. Our newly elected Officers will be attending the upcoming LEC Officer training, and we continue to meet with many Members who are interested in volunteering to do local union work. It is imperative that we are inclusive of all Members regardless of which pre-merger Contract that we are working under.

I would also like to recognize the efforts and commitment that the many Officers and Volunteers from both Council 21 and Council 62 have provided in getting to this point:

In Council 21, I thank both former Council 21 Secretary Mark Palaszewski, and the former Council 21 Vice President, Jill Collins for their commitment and dedication over their respective terms. Mark has been dedicated to Council 21 for over 20 years,  and was a consistent face of this union. Jill brought a unique perspective and dedication to her position, and continues to serve on local committees. We owe them both a debt of gratitude and wish them well.

In Council 62, I want to thank those individuals who provided local IAD Members with representation: Former C-62 President Joey Guider and Vice President, David Janousik. Also current C-62 President Shaun McNulty, and Grievance Reps Randy Hatfield, Paul Murray and Eric Kauffman.

On behalf of all of your Local Officers, Committee Members, and Volunteers - Happy New Year!  We wish you and those you love health and happiness.

As always, we have a Volunteer from the Reserve Committee and either an Officer or Volunteer available 24/7. Please call us @ 703 260 0051, and follow the prompts: After Hours - Press 1 for Reserve, 2 for immediate issues, 3 to leave a message (calls returned next business day).

Thank you for being informed and engaged Members. Please remember to fly safe, challenge rumor and to respect each other.

In Solidarity and with Respect,

Todd Failla, Patrick, Chelle, Thom, Michelle and Lois
