Inside this issue:     LAX Base Flying Changes
Local Council Meetings

Dear Flying Partners:

T
oday, the company reported changes to international flying for the Los Angeles base.  Until we have a common CMS platform (common flying), changes in flying will have a an impact on our entire Flight Attendant population.  One of the upcoming changes will result in the suspension of the second LAX-LHR which was scheduled to start April 4, 2017.

In addition, LAX-LHR-LAX (923/935) will transition from a 77Q to a 78Z effective March 9, 2017 and is planned to remain on the route at minimum through the summer.  As determined by Network Planning, they believe the 78Z is better suited for the current demand in the LAX-LHR market and allows the company to optimize revenue.  According to United management, Network Planning evaluates markets and aircraft flying on a monthly basis.  Although schedule changes tend to be seasonal, changes to equipment and frequency are always subject to change in an effort to match capacity.

Per the Letter of Agreement negotiated by AFA for the Los Angeles base, there will not be any surplus or displacement of Pre-Merger CAL or Pre-Merger UAL Flight Attendants as a result of this or any future equipment changes.

For some, this is great news as it creates additional flying opportunities and for others, it is a devastating loss.  Your Council 12 officers completely understand the effect this has on the population and will continue to advocate for our entire family here in Los Angeles.  There IS light at the end of the tunnel.  We have a Joint Contract in place and we are working diligently to assist the company in implementing the entire contract in the most expeditious and contractually compliant manner.

As one strong Family here in Los Angeles, we take care of each other!  We lend a hand to pull our sisters and brothers up when anyone is down.  Walk with us in Solidarity possessing the knowledge that there are better and brighter days ahead for everyone.  We are Stronger Together, we are Better Together!

Where There Is Unity, We All Find Strength.

In Solidarity,

Dante Harris
