Special Leave of Absence and EOM
For those individuals who have elected to take the two month (January & February) Special Leave of Absence, there has been some confusion about the status of any IDs that overlap into the awarded Special Leave period.
We’ve confirmed with management the IDs that overlap into the Special Leave period will be removed from the LOFs sometime this week. Flight Attendants will be pay protected and subject to reassignment for that portion of the ID that operates within the December 2015 schedule month. Keep in mind, Section 8.J.1.a provides for the ability to decline a reassignment once it is known based on coverage as defined in this same paragraph.
Cintas 25% Discount
Cintas and United will be offering a 25% discount when you purchase uniform items from November 30, 2015 through Jan. 31, 2016. Beginning on November 30, when you login to your Cintas account, point values for all items will reflect a 25% discount. This discount applies to all items and to all purchases made either using either your point allotment or credit card. You will be able to take advantage of this 25% off with your remaining 2015 allotment and your 2016 allotment. Please keep in mind however; uniform points do not carry over to the new year.
Last Day to Use Your 2015 Uniform Points
2015 uniform points expire on December 31, 2015 and DO NOT roll over for use in the following 2016 calendar year. In order to get full use from your annual uniform point allocation, orders must be submitted before the following deadlines:
- Telephone Orders - Must be placed by 1500 Central Standard Time on December 31, 2015
- Online Orders - Must be placed by 2359 Central Standard Time on December 31, 2015 via the Cintas Website. A link is provided in the Useful Websites section of our website at unitedafa.org.

Be sure to utilize your full 2015 uniform point allocation. We encourage you to place these orders early to avoid running the risk of forgetting to do so during the busy holiday season.
Holiday Bonus Point Program
This year management will again offer Flight Attendants the Attendance Point Credit Program. A "no absence" during this period over the holidays will generate a one-point credit, to be banked and applied toward any future point-generating occurrence, under the following circumstances:
- If you are on active status the entire designated holiday period from December 14, 2015 through January 11, 2016 local base time;
- f you work a flight segment and/or stand Reserve during December 14, 2015 through January 11, 2016; and,
- If you generate zero attendance points (as defined in Section II of the 2008 Discipline and Dispute Resolution Side Letter) during this same December 14, 2015 through January 11, 2016 period.
The one point credit will offset the first point-generating occurrence after January 11, 2016. There is no expiration date for the one point credit and should the segment worked during this period experience a delay beyond January 11, 2016, it will still qualify for the credit.
At the conclusion of this year’s holiday period, documentation of the one point credit for attendance will be noted in your work history (FDWH) and your RECORD screen in Unimatic. Let us be clear, there is no expectation that anyone who is sick should come to work when they are sick.
