Flight Attendants' Legal Right to Strike

Date: January 3, 2005

United's Union-busting lawyers and media spokespeople have made absurd statements regarding Flight Attendants' legal right to self-help in the event their contract is abrogated.  As we have said before, we're not aware of a contract in this country where one party breaks the terms of the agreement and the other party continues to perform.  Forcing people to work under terms which they did not agree to was banned by the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

United Airlines CEO Glenn Tilton should immediately break off his destructive efforts to reject the Flight Attendant Contract.  If the bankruptcy court rules in favor of United's motion to abrogate its contract with employees, United Flight Attendant will avail themselves of their legal right to institute CHAOS™ strikes.
