New Internet Campaign with Joe Trippi Focuses On Pension Ripoffs like United Airlines'

flight attendants with Joe TrippiCHICAGO -- United Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA), is hosting a "Blog" Conference tomorrow at its Rosemont offices with Internet campaign pioneer Joe Trippi. Trippi's new Internet-based campaign, "Change America," will unveil his new Web site, www.changeamerica.com. It will provide Americans with tools to organize against corporations like United Airlines. United's management recently walked away from its commitment to provide flight attendants with secure pensions, dumping them on the federal agency, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

"We're delighted to help launch this innovative campaign," said Greg Davidowitch, president of AFA's United Master Executive Council. "This may be the best way for United's management to get a taste of how Americans feel about their irresponsible action in gutting flight attendant pensions and skirting workers’ rights under our country’s bankruptcy and pension laws. This is one way ordinary citizens can voice their anger at the potential destruction of our nation's retirement security."
