United We Care Employee Relief Fund

Continental Airlines We Care and the United Airlines Employees' Relief Fund (also known as "The Blue Bridge") have combined to create one new fund called the United We Care Employee Relief Fund.

Active United employees and retirees can request emergency assistance due to natural disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy, as well as medical illness, fire, theft, accident, domestic violence, or any other crisis beyond the employee's control that causes them to lose time from work. This confidential, timely, short term crisis relief is provided for basic, last-resort assistance unavailable through other resources.

Emergency assistance is in the form of gift cards and distributed based on family size:

  • Co-worker only - $200
  • Co-worker and spouse/domestic partner or one child - $300
  • Co-worker, spouse/domestic partner and child OR co-worker and 2 or more children - $500

The United We Care Grant Panel will review each request for approval during regularly scheduled conference calls (every Tuesday, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, and Thursday, form 9:00am to 11:00am CST) or sooner, if necessary. Once approved, gift cards are sent via Federal Express, to employees at their home address or alternate address, if they are unable to receive mail at their home.
