Happy New Year

Date: December 31, 2014

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Two thousand fourteen needless to say has been a very eventful year. The year began with management announcing another round of furloughs for United Flight Attendants. We were also faced this year with management’s decision to surplus Flight Attendants at several of our domiciles. And most recently management announced the unfortunate closure of the Seattle domicile.

While there have been many challenges this year, we have also had numerous accomplishments. This past summer we began a new Interest Based Bargaining (IBB) process in our negotiations, setting a target date of July 23, 2015 to reach a Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement. We have also successfully showed the nation that Flight Attendants will not back down and allow knives back on our aircraft.

In September, we announced with management a historical Enhanced Early Out Program (EEOP) that provided unprecedented benefits for Flight Attendants and also secured the return of all Flight Attendants on furlough. Recently we had to mobilize together to fight and protect our skies against the schemes of Norwegian Air International (NAI). And finally after over a decade there is not a threat of furlough this holiday season.  We accomplished many of these issues through open and honest dialogue with United management and we hope to continue on this path through two thousand fifteen.

The New Year will not only offer us the ability to build upon our new beginnings, it will offer us many new and exciting opportunities. Let two thousand fifteen be the year when "we" exemplify Solidarity, Unity and Power through our unwavering commitment and dedication to our common goal and to one another. Together we will ensure our future success.

On behalf of the United Master Executive Council, we wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year; here's looking forward to continuing our journey together toward collective success in 2015!

In Solidarity,

Ken Diaz
President
United Master Executive Council
