We Honor Our Heroes

Date: September 11, 2015

Ladies and Gentlemen:

September 11, 2001.  Fourteen years ago today our Flight Attendant community experienced what is undoubtedly one of the most traumatic losses in aviation history for our profession.  On that day, there was a terrible loss of life and among those who perished were thirty-five family members – Flight Attendants, Pilots, and Customer Service Representatives.  It is difficult to believe that an event so vivid in our memories occurred so many years ago.

As we do each year, we pause with our flying partners, professional colleagues, families and friends to reflect on and rededicate ourselves to the lives that were lost that day.   Above all, we honor the memory of our aviation heroes:

Each day in the performance of our duties as Safety Professionals and First Responders in the aviation industry, our actions honor the memories of the courageous crews on United Flights 93 & 175 and American Flights 11 & 77.    While the events of that day unearthed the emotions of many, the actions of the brave women and men who perished in the line of duty reinforced their commitment to our profession and the passengers entrusted to our care.  We will always remember these brave women and men and their service to so many.

As we pay tribute to our flying partners as well as those lost that fateful day, our remembrance will again include an online memorial on our website.

We dedicate our thoughts and prayers to the families who lost loved ones on September 11.  We Remember.  We will never forget.

In Solidarity,

Ken Diaz,
United Master Executive Council
