1/2 Point Reduction When Providing a Physician’s Note for Illness/Injury Absences

Flight Attendants who are absent due to Illness or injury for 6 calendar days or less may choose to provide a physician’s note for a 1/2-point reduction of the assigned 2 points for this instance. Flight Attendants who chose to utilize this provision are required under the agreement to obtain a written note from their treating physician or a physician affiliated with company medical department. The physician’s note must include the following information is provided in the content of the note:
- Date of illness
- Date of examination
- Date of return to work
- Signature of the physician or the physician’s designee on a document that includes, at a minimum, pre-printed physician’s name, address, and telephone number.
Flight Attendants should black out all confidential information (i.e. diagnosis, treatment, condition) before presenting a physician note to a supervisor. Notes must be given on or before the next scheduled pairing or Reserve assignment. Medical verification for absences due to illness/injury currently required for pmUA, pmCO and pmCMI will remain in effect until Section 13.C. of the JCBA is implemented.
