Two hundred and forty-two years ago today, the Continental Congress consisting of the 13 colonies came together and adopted theDeclaration of Independence. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, a nation whose ultimate success in accomplishing independence relied upon a coming together behind a common objective. Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation with fireworks, parades, barbecues, picnics, and family reunions in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Today is the National Day of the United States of America.
As in every holiday or national event, our work makes it possible for people to come together and share in these events. Through this work, we have become intricately woven into the very fiber of the fabric that is at the foundation of what we stand for as a nation.
Today, whether spending the day with family at parades or reunions or on a flight assignment to make it possible for others to spend the day with their families, on behalf of the entire United Master Executive Council, have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day holiday celebration.
