AFA Attends Aviation Safety Forum – Addressing Unruly Passengers

Date: August 10, 2018

On August 2, 2018, The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) hosted a panel discussion on efforts to combat an increase in unruly, and often drunken, passengers on board flights.

The panel discussion was part of the annual air safety forum event held in Washington, DC. Discussants included industry experts from The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), International President, Sara Nelson, Airlines Pilots Association (ALPA), law enforcement, airport personnel, the FAA, and United Airlines Global Security Airlines Representative. The panel talked about the increase in violent and unsavory passenger incidents and ways to de-escalate and prevent such situations. Flight Attendants interested in the details of this very important issue are encouraged to watch the video for a complete overview of the panel discussion.  Also in attendance were Sheryl Stroup, Chairperson MEC Safety, Health and Security (SHS) and MEC SHS Vice Chairperson, Johanna Foote.
