787 Service Procedure Change Effective June 1, 2019

Date: May 31, 2019

In May, United announced effective June 1, 201, the service procedures on the  787-10 (78J) will mirror
the recent changes to the United Polaris service procedures on the 777-200 and 787-9.

These changes include the creation of a dedicated galley/aisle position for the mid-galley on this aircraft. The Flight Attendant working this mid-galley/aisle position will now be compensated with contractual galley pay while having both galley and aisle responsibilities. While the anticipated changes are intended to aid in balancing the workload while improving service flow, it’s not likely that it will address all of the concerns Flight Attendants have raised as a result of the original staffing reduction to match Delta and American staffing levels.

Flight Attendants are encouraged to continue to submit Marginal Staffing Reports through the AFA Submission Form anytime they experience service issues resulting from staffing issues.

For additional information, refer to the E-Lines publication, dated May 8, 2019, referencing the procedures Flight Attendants should follow when reporting ongoing marginal service concerns.
