Preparing for and Acting During any Active Shooter Incident

EAP and Professional Standards Committee
The active shooter tragedies that have occurred over the last fourteen hours in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio remind us that the risk of mass violence in the communities in which we all live, work and visit is very real. The attached link provides information on preparing for and acting during an active shooter incident.
None of us should be surprised that we will all be challenged with processing these horrific events emotionally. For those of us with children, our challenge is even more significant as we work to process the horror of these events while, at the same time, actively working to provide our children with a sense of safety and normalcy. Please, remember that your AFA EAP Committee is a confidential resource available to assist you in processing the events of the past few days. You can find the contact information for your local AFA EAP Committee Representative(s) at unitedafa.org.
