Temporary Seating and Boarding Policy Changes Effective April 28, 202

Date: April 29, 2020

MEC Safety Health and Security Committee

As work continues to keep customer and employee safety as our central focus and that of United management, additional steps are being taken to promote social distancing in the airport and onboard our aircraft.

Beginning by the end of April and currently scheduled through May 31, 2020 (subject to change), United will implement temporary changes to our seating and boarding policies on all scheduled United and United Express flights.

Following a preboarding process, for customers with disabilities, UMNRs, active military, Global Services, United will return to the concept of boarding by row numbers, starting from the rear of the aircraft to the front.  1K and families traveling with children will be welcome to board at any point during the boarding process. Premier members, Chase cardholders and premium cabin customer may board before their row numbers are called

During this interim process, Boarding Group designations will not change on a customer’s boarding pass.  Instead CSRs will call rows in groups of five from the rear of the aircraft forward following pre-boarding.

We encourage all Flight Attendants to review the April 28, 2020 Safety Alert, which replaces the April 22, 2020 publication on the same subject, to ensure your familiarity with these changes.
