June Schedule Development -Suspension of Flying at Additional Locations

Date: May 9, 2020

MEC Central Schedule Committee

As the global schedule of our airline continues to be impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Network Planning must continue to evaluate all possible flying opportunities and adjust the aircraft schedule in response to the continue lack of demand for air travel.  Based on current indications and due to the continue reduction in demand for flying, the company expects to fly only a small fraction of our pre-COVID schedule.

As a result of these decisions, our Flight Attendant bases in Hong Kong (HKG), Narita (NRT), London Heathrow (LHR), and Frankfurt (FRA) are not expected to be assigned flying for June.  In addition, and because these reductions in flying are not isolated only to International flying, neither Cleveland (CLE) or Austin (AUS) are expected to be assigned flying during the June schedule month.   Flight Attendants at all of these base locations will be pay protected by the language in Section 4.C. of our Contract and will receive our negotiated 71-hour minimum.  Schedules will not be developed at any of these locations and there is no expectation that you will submit a bid for June schedules. None of these locations should expect to see a bid packet.

If you have additional questions, please contact your Local Council.
