VSP2 Application Process Completed

Date: July 18, 2020

As we know, the timeline to submit for VSP2 concluded on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 just before midnight CST.  Given the significant nature of the decision to accept the VSP2 offering, many Flight Attendants took the time necessary to fully evaluate the offering as well as their “readiness” for retirement and elected to submit an application during the days just prior to the deadline.  In fact, 25% of the Flight Attendant VSP2 applications were submitted during the 48 hours prior to the deadline. These individuals have a full four (4) days to revoke their application and those who submitted in the hours just prior to the deadline have until Sunday to notify the company of their intent to revoke.

We anticipate that the VSP2 list will be finalized on Monday, July 20, 2020 and the company will then set about the business processes to match the individual schedules of the Flight Attendants who accepted the VSP2 by July 15, 2020 with the published timeline:

Last day worked

July 29, 2020

Separation Date

July 30, 2020

End of Active Benefits

July 31, 2020

All of the individuals who participated in the VSP2 program, those who left June 30, 2020 as well as those who will leave the end of July 2020 will all contribute toward the total 15,100 reduction in force target the company has established.

Many of our colleagues who accepted the VSP2 did so after making a number of difficult considerations and gave up long time careers and a profession they loved despite being otherwise healthy and able to continue flying.  Their lifelong contributions to our chosen profession and contributions to the overall success of our airline must be acknowledged.  We want to express the appreciation of so many who will directly benefit from their departure.  The words “thank you” are simply insufficient in expressing our gratitude for the part they are playing in the continued success of our airline.
