Cabin Jumpseat (CJA) Authority Reminders
Date:
September 16, 2020
As a reminder, Section 3.A. of our Contract provides Flight Attendants with access to the Cabin Jumpseat on all United Aircraft which
cannot be denied due to an aircraft weight restriction.
In recent weeks we have received reports that some Customer Service Representatives and Flight Attendants have acted to deny access to the jumpseat citing “social distancing” or concerns about COVID-19 issues.
This is an incorrect application of the language in our contract and should not be occurring. Use of the Cabin Jumpseat is contractually protected and cannot be denied to a Flight Attendant. If you have questions on how to address your concerns with COVID-19 or social distancing, please contact your Local Council Office or Local Safety Committee for assistance.
