Flexible Spending Account (FSA) forfeiture for Plan Year 2019
October 19, 2021
The United Benefits team has finalized processing of the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) forfeiture for the 2019 plan year. The delay in processing the 2019 plan year was due to a grace period extension which became available as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The forfeiture for the 2020 plan year will close April 30, 2022 and the forfeiture for the 2021 plan year is yet to be determined.
For each plan year, the forfeiture consists of unused amounts remaining in Flight Attendant FSA accounts after all claims were processed. You will be receiving an allocation as a result of this process. This is in compliance with your Collective Bargaining Agreement and is calculated according to the requirements as determined by the Internal Revenue Service.
No action is necessary on your part.
The amount of your allocation of the plan year forfeiture will be reflected on your pay advice on November 16, 2021, specifically in the hours and earnings section, and will be referenced as Flex Health Forfeitures and/or Flex Depend Forfeitures.
