Vacation Bidding

Date: October 26, 2021

The first-round vacation bidding is open for all Domiciles and will remain open until October 31, 2021, at 0800 Home Domicile Time (HDT).

We encourage everyone to participate in this first round of vacation bidding to increase the likelihood that you will hold the vacation periods you seek.  Remember, always bid on the vacation periods for which you have an interest.  You cannot hold it if you do not bid it.

Attention all transferring Flight Attendants:  For those who have accepted base transfers effective for the December schedule month we have some important considerations. Keep in mind, when bidding vacation, be sure you are looking at allocations in your new base.  When vacations are awarded, the Vacation award programming will make an evaluation of where you are based for January 2022 and will award your vacation based on that domicile location.

All 2022 vacations will be awarded at your new base location.

As a reminder, take a few minutes to look at the overview of the vacation process, broken down by dates and specific activities tied to vacation bidding, which is available from our Vacation microsite.

Below are a few questions we are getting from our members:

What Happens if I Don't Bid for Vacation?

If a Flight Attendant does not submit a vacation bid in the first round of bidding, they will be considered a No Bid. No vacation will be assigned during the first round of vacation bidding. You will, however, be required to bid all your accrued days in the second vacation bid round.

If a Flight Attendant does not submit a vacation bid in the second round of bidding, she/he will automatically be assigned a vacation. Keep in mind, the vacation you are assigned will be after the second-round vacation awards have been completed for all Flight Attendants submitting a bid. The assigned vacation will be made in seniority order from December backward through January, with the largest block of days being assigned first.

What if My Bid is considered an Insufficient Bid?

When a Flight Attendant submits a vacation bid and is unable to hold any of their selections, they are considered an Insufficient Bid. In this instance, vacation is assigned in seniority order from December backward through January after that round of vacation has been awarded to all bidders. The assignment shall be based on the number of days in your bid with the largest block of days assigned first.
