United’s Mask Policy Updates

Date: May 28, 2021

Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed their guidance on face masks, allowing fully vaccinated individuals* to resume activities without wearing masks or social distancing.  However, the CDC update did not change the mask requirements at airports or on aircraft.

Effective Saturday, May 22, fully vaccinated employees will not be required to wear a mask or practice social distancing at non-airport locations, including some of United’s training centers.  To do so, you will simply be required to upload your vaccination information to MyInfo. Until you upload your vaccination information, you must always wear a mask while in the office except while you are actively eating or drinking.

The training centers for which this policy update applies include:

  • Chicago (ORD)
  • Denver (FTC)
  • Guam (GUM)

Training centers not affected include:

  • Houston (IAH) – The training center is on airport property and employees must still wear masks on premises.
  • London (LHR) – CDC updates only affects U.S.-based locations
  • Newark (EWR) – The training center is on airport property and employees must still wear masks on premises.
  • San Francisco (SFO) – The training center is on airport property and employees must still wear masks on premises.
