Location Specific Vaccine Requirements

Date: June 22, 2021

Safety, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been at the forefront of everything we do. From successfully legislating required masks on planes to ensuring Members have adequate PPE and access to vaccinations,we continue the work to keep our Members safe.

International travel is returning to pre-pandemic levels. Many locations around the globe have seen a drop in COVID-19 cases, while other locations are dealing with infrastructure issues which has slowed the vaccination process. Some of the hardest hit locations are also dealing with new strains of the virus making their citizens and travelers to the region more vulnerable to contracting the virus.

Beginning with the August 2021 bid month, Flight Attendants assigned pairings, that include flights to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India and Peru will be required to be fully vaccinated. Additional countries (potentially China and Taiwan) may be added in the near future.

Eligible Flight Attendants are highly encouraged to upload their proof of vaccination to MyInfo on Flying Together as soon as possible. Flight Attendants who elect to vaccinate and share their proof of vaccination with the company will be eligible for additional vacation days as provided for under the terms of the Vaccination Incentive Letter of Agreement (LOA).

As a reminder, vaccination for COVID-19 is a personal choice and is not required. However, Members who elect not to be fully vaccinated before the start of the August bid month (July 31, 2021) will not be eligible for pay protection if they are assigned a trip to one of the locations designated above.

*United follows CDC guidance, and the CDC considers people to be fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer,Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as the Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine.
