Independence Day

Date: July 4, 2021

America was built on the idea of freedom. When the 13 colonies came together two hundred and forty-four years ago to declare their independence from the British Monarchy, our ancestors knew they would face a difficult and dangerous road filled with many challenges.

Our founding fathers came together, despite significant differences, behind shared ideals. They debated, argued and through those discussions established a common ground on which to build their ideas for what would become our collective future. They risked their lives in order to create something greater than themselves. Their sacrifice, alongside so many Americans, is why we have the opportunity to continue on the journey they started and make America a nation we can all be proud of, every day.

For so many around the world America is a symbol of hope, freedom and equality. Every day we continue to redefine what those words mean and work to live up to these ideals so that every American or hopeful American can see that their future is their own and, most importantly, that they belong to something greater than themselves.

As Flight Attendants we have the privilege of being ambassadors to the world. Our work allows families and friends from all over the world, from all walks of life and from all cultural heritages to gather and celebrate together.

On our nation’s Independence Day Celebration, whether spending the day with loved ones, or coming to work so that others may celebrate with their families and loved ones, on behalf of the entire United Master Executive Council, we wish you a safe and enjoyable Independence Day Holiday.
