United Removes 25 Boeing 777-200 Aircraft from Service

Date: September 20, 2022

In late breaking news this afternoon, United has removed twenty-five (25) Boeing 777-200 aircraft from service this week following a discovery and disclosure that required inspections on the wing leading edge panels had not been performed.

As a safety leader in the airline industry, United’s internal audit procedures identified the oversight and launched into action a plan to timely complete the inspections.

Removal of these aircraft from service may result in schedule modifications and perhaps some cancellations subjecting us to reassignments.  If you have questions about our industry leading reassignment language, please contact your Local Council.
