As we have previously reported, beginning May 1st, 2019 and as a result of our ongoing advocacy, the Polaris service flow on all United 777-200 (excluding the 77G/77M) and 787-9 aircraft was modified to return a dedicated galley/aisle position to the mid-galley on these aircraft.

The Flight Attendant assigned to work position #3 on these aircraft will work a galley/aisle position and will be compensated for the additional galley work on which the success of the service will rely by providing contractual galley override pay despite the fact that the majority of the work of this position will be done in the aisle.

As with all changes, especially those involving pay related issues, we encourage you to monitor your Pay Register posted on CCS to ensure the add pay is correctly posted with the associated position. The galley pay should automatically be calculated and posted to your Pay Register. However, if you believe your pay has not been properly posted to your Pay Register to include the galley pay override for this position, submit a pay claim via Flying Together -> Hub Help.

While it is anticipated that the additional service coordination efforts that will be brought about by the work of the person filling this dedicated position, it’s not likely that all of the concerns you may have about the service will be fully addressed by this singular service change. Flight Attendants are encouraged to continue to submit marginal service reports to AFA, utilizing the submission form on our website.

Additional information concerning the addition of this position and the details of the new service flow can be found in April 3, 2019 edition of Inflight Services Weekly (ISW).

Additional questions should be directed to your Local Council Representatives.
