MEC Communications Committee

As a continuation of our educational series on the roles and work of the various MEC Committees, this week we focus on the important, ongoing work of our Reserve Committees on both the Local and MEC levels of our Union.

This Committee deals with issues specifically affecting Reserves and are tasked with the publication and upkeep of the Reserve Survival guides. The current guides are based on the Reserve Flight Attendants pre-merger scheduling provisions and include any implemented Sections of the JCBA. In addition to the Reserve Survival Guides the Committee has the responsibility of meeting with the company monthly in an effort to resolve any Reserve issues.  The Committee assists Local Reserve Committees in resolving problems, while simultaneously working with the MEC Grievance Committee to resolve system-wide Reserve violations.

Flight Attendants interested in advocating for Reserves should contact their Local Council to indicate a willingness to serve on their Local Reserve Committee. Anticipating New Hire Flight Attendants scheduled to arrive on the line for 2018, all of our involvement and knowledge of the Reserve system serves as a great asset not only to the Membership at your Local Council as a whole, but to our newest AFA Members.
