April is Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month

MEC Benefits Committee

Intended to remind all of us of the value of early detection in cancer prevention, April is the month that’s set aside to emphasize the importance of routine cancer screenings. Screenings have been proven to lead to better health outcomes overall, as the earlier cancer is detected, the greater the number of available treatment options.

In keeping with this effort, the Health & Wellness group at United has arranged for access to a new cancer screening benefit at no cost to employees. This new access is via Color Health. Color assists employees in determining their risk for certain cancers and can help in screening at home or in person.

The Health & Wellness team will be coming on-site with Color at two select locations to offer in-person risk assessments and screenings as part of a beta test. While this effort is directed at the employees working at these locations, if you happen to be at the site on the dates when Color is at the location, you may participate as well.  All you need to participate is your medical ID card and United ID at the onsite events.

The two designated locations are EWR and ORD and the specified dates and locations are as follows:

Your MEC Benefits Committee has consistently advocated for the company to provide employees with events of this nature that are free of charge to employees.  For this reason and because this is good for employees, we encourage participation at these events.
