Our AFA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) volunteers remind us that all Flight Attendants governed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) can get assistance in dealing with substance abuse should they need it.
The Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program (FADAP) website provides information on substance use, abuse and dependence for all Federal Aviation Administration-certified Flight Attendants, no matter what status you currently hold -- active, furloughed, or even if you are on a leave status.
The FADAP website provides lists of EAP peers, self-screening tools, online resources, educational information, and guidance on how to distinguish between abuse and dependence, among other helpful tools.
In addition, AFA conducts annual and regional trainings, and manages peer networks to assist and provide services to all Flight Attendants. The FADAP is yet another example of AFA's leadership in advancing our profession for all Flight Attendants.
FADAP's mission is to support a culture of safety which will be able to assist flight attendants in meeting their personal and professional goals through substance-abuse awareness, combined with self and peer referrals for assistance, and the implementation of a Flight-Attendant-specific recovery support system.
