HONOLULU – On Friday, March 13th, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), will picket at Daniel K. Inouye Airport in Honolulu as their fight for a fair contract continues on.
Friday’s picketing comes on the heels of AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson’s recent visit to Honolulu, where she committed full support for Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants and urged management to step up and reach a long overdue agreement. Negotiations, overseen by the National Mediation Board, will continue next week in Dallas.
Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants’ ongoing negotiations with management remain stalled and have surpassed the three-year mark. In November of last year, the flight attendants’ voted 99.9% to authorize a strike, marking the highest support for authorizing a strike in the history of the entire Association of Flight Attendants.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants’ pay has fallen in comparison with the rest of the industry while the cost of living and medical expenses continue to rise. Management seeks to double flight attendant medical insurance premiums and gut work rules to fund pay increases.
