United requires all passengers and front-line personnel, including Flight Attendants, pilots, customer service agents, and ramp service personnel, to wear a face covering/mask while in the airport or onboard the aircraft.

MEC Safety Health and Security Committee

United requires all passengers and front-line personnel, including Flight Attendants, pilots, customer service agents, and ramp service personnel, to wear a face covering/mask while in the airport or onboard the aircraft.

The company is encouraging employees and passengers to bring their own face coverings/masks. However, if an employee or passenger does not have a face covering, customer service agents will provide them with one.

Note: Flight attendants will also have access to eight (8) additional masks provisioned in the Inflight Customer Kit in the event a mask is needed during the flight.

Flight Attendants are reminded that certain customers – such as those who have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a face covering, those who cannot put on or remove a face covering themselves and small children will not be required to wear a mask while on board the aircraft. However, if a customer falls outside these categories yet still refuses to wear a face covering, a CSR should be contacted to discuss options with the passenger. CSRs should follow their normal escalation process and contact a lead should further assistance be needed.
