Multiple network schedule changes for the end of March have been loaded to our crew systems and the associated pairings require manual changes by Crew Scheduling personnel. We are learning this does, in fact, affect training pairings that have flight segments for travel to training that have cancelled. There has been some inconsistency in the information provided in United’s systems and this has created some confusion as to whether flights have actually cancelled or not. At this point, Crew Scheduling will be acting on changes that are visible in the Crew systems because it has been determined this information has been updated ahead of other systems.
Crew Scheduling is aware that the timing of these cancellations could not come at a worse time given that the trading open windows started today. Crew Scheduling is responding to the aircraft schedule changes they are being given to them by Network Operations. Personnel on overtime, dedicated specifically to fixing these pairings as quickly as possible, have been hired to address this need.
These revisions/cancellations are governed by the provisions of Section 7.Q.3. of our Contract. While Crew Scheduling personnel are updating these pairings in chronological order as quickly as possible and, despite the fact that additional resources are being allocated to this work, we are being asked to convey those resources at the Crew Desk are stretched as this work continues. If you are able to reach someone in Crew Scheduling, this constitutes notification, and you should be given your options as provided for under this Section of the Contract.
Having said this, if you are calling regarding an update for a March pairing, please be patient as Crew Scheduling works through the more than 9,500 schedule changes for the March bid period that are being driven by this aircraft schedule change.
