We have received reports in the MEC Office that some supervisory personnel are incorrectly advising Special Qualification Flight Attendants that they are required to have 50 hours on their line at the end of every schedule month.

We have received reports in the MEC Office that some supervisory personnel are incorrectly advising Special Qualification Flight Attendants that they are required to have 50 hours on their line at the end of every schedule month.

As a reminder, Special Qualification Flight Attendants who wish to trade with or pick up from open time must have fifty (50) hours, [twenty (20) hours for job shares, partnerships & half month leaves] in their Special Qualification time (either International Purser or Language) based on her/his awarded line of flying at the end of the bid month.

For example, a language qualified (LQ) Flight Attendant will be expected to have a minimum fifty (50) hours [twenty (20) for job shares, partnerships and half month leaves] of flying in their assigned language at the end of the bid month, if they have traded with or picked up from open time other than LQFA open time during the month.

It is not necessary for these hours to be part of the line of the Flight Attendant with the Special Qualification prior to trading or picking up from open time. However, if trading or picking up from open time, these hours are required to be on the Flight Attendant’s line by the end of the bid month.

Note:  Hours credited from deadheading or rigs will apply towards the required 50 hours minimum.
