Additionally, at this year’s BOD meeting, the Local Council Presidents of each Local AFA Council will elect the International Officers - the International President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer; who will then serve a full-time four-year term commencing June 1st, 2018. The International Officers administer Union operations in accordance with our Constitution and Bylaws, and at the direction of the BOD. Every two years the AFA Board of Directors reviews the list of hotels interested in hosting this essential meeting for our Union, the location at which important business decisions are made.  When considering the hotel selection, the AFA Board of Directors considers a number of factors to include unionized staff, costs, facilities, food availability, safety and cleanliness.   In addition, our Union leadership seeks to have these meetings in locations where there are Flight Attendant bases in order to facilitate participation by all Members in good standing.  Harrah’s hotel in Atlantic City was selected by the AFA Board of Directors in 2016 for their competitive pricing and commitment to meet our business needs while the meeting is in session.

We encourage Members to see our democratic process in action by attending your Local Council meetings and, if you are in the Atlantic City area during the meetings, you are encouraged to attend. The schedule for your Local Council meeting have been posted on unitedafa.org.
