The United Master Executive Council (MEC) convened in Chicago this week to address matters concerning our Union and to advance and address United Flight Attendants' concerns. The meeting commenced on April 18 and concluded on April 20. Our MEC Negotiations Committee provided an update to those in attendance on the ongoing negotiations.
The MEC President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer presented updates as did our MEC Employee Assistance Program/Professional Standards and Grievance Committees through their annual reports.
The members of the United MEC elected MEC officers to serve for a three-year term starting July 1, 2023, and MEC Committee Members to serve terms of varying lengths. The results of these elections are available on our website.
As an integral part of the Election process, the United MEC conducted interviews of each candidate in addition to an in-depth review of each candidate’s credentials. Members of the United Master Executive Council had an opportunity to ask each candidate questions in an effort to obtain an understanding of their qualifications and to assess their commitment to carry-out the responsibilities of the position for which they sought election.
We congratulate all of the successful candidates while expressing our appreciation to all who submitted a Willingness to Serve as an MEC Officer or MEC Committee Member. In addition, we are grateful to all of our Members who observed whatever portion of the meeting they were able to view over the course of the day.
On Day Three of the Meeting, our MEC Negotiating Committee provided a comprehensive update on the status of negotiations, which will be communicated to all United Flight Attendants via our quarterly "On the Line" publication.
Daily Summaries of the meeting's proceedings are available from our website along with detailed information on Action on the Agenda Items presented for consideration during this meeting.
