You received a line award that does not fit your schedule. One of your reserve flying partners has the perfect line with weekends off for you, so you agree to trade lines. What next?

In order to trade lines with a fellow flying partner, there are some simple rules to adhere to, to make sure the process can be done quickly for you both. Use this checklist to ensure you have a smooth process when calling FAST to trade lines.

  • You must call FAST along with the trading partner on the line to confirm the line trade request.
  • You may not trade or alter any part of your awarded line, excluding already existing vacation periods, or you will be ineligible for trading and be denied.
    • Examples of altering: PTO, DATV, trip trade with another Flight Attendant, or open time
  • No conflicts or legalities may be created as a result of the line trading.
  • Reserves and Lineholders may trade with each other, Lineholder to Lineholder, or Reserve to Reserve.
  • Line trade requests must be submitted 1 calendar day, home Domicile time, before the first day of the new bid month. (JCBA Section 7.I.10.).

Should you ever face an obstacle when line trading, remember to obtain the name of the FAST representative you spoke with. Contact your local AFA council with this information so they can assist you with an appropriate solution.
