Over the course of the past several months, there have been a number of changes to the procedures to be used when caring for an unaccompanied minor. Among these changes is implementation of the new UMNR Tracker App. If you are having difficulty with the app, contact the help desk at 847 700 5800 or 800 255 5801. In addition, there are a number of additional tools to alert us to the UMNRs in our care for a specific flight. These include:
- My Flight App and Inflight Final Report (IFR) will provide additional information to alert you they are on your flight.
Keep in mind the following procedures:
- UNMRs preferred seating is an aisle seat in the last three rows of the United Economy cabin. Keep in mind, many of our UMNRs are themselves “Premier” customers who may travel in the Premium cabins or Economy plus. Additionally, while the maximum number of UMNRs per flight is six (6), with the approval of Customer Service Solutions you may have more than six on a given flight. UNMR space available travelers may also be on the aircraft and can be assigned any seat in the economy cabin.
- Check on UMNRs during the flight. During that time, remind them of the importance of remaining seated until they are escorted to meet the agent to whom custody will be transferred on arrival.
- Introduce the UM to Flight Attendants seated at or adjacent to the boarding door of the aircraft. This is especially important in those instances where there is more than one Flight Attendant assigned a cabin jumpseat adjacent to the aircraft door through which boarding and disembarking occurs. This way, if the UMNR does not remain seated and becomes engulfed in the passenger flow off the aircraft, there is an increased opportunity for us to secure the UMNR before she/he exits the aircraft.
Remind the CSR on arrival that we have terminating UMNR and that it will be necessary for the transfer of custody to occur.
