Electrostatic sprayer (ESS) and quick turn tips for Flight Attendants

MEC Safety Health and Security Committee

Flight Attendants working a quick turn pairing are reminded of the company’s safety guidance issued on August 5, 2020, regardingUnited’s Clean Plus electrostatic sprayer (ESS) and tips for Flight Attendants. The ESS is a highly effective disinfectant that helps prevent the spread of germs onboard the aircraft. Understandably, neither Flight Attendants nor passengers should ever be onboard the aircraft during the ESS disbursement process, including designated quick turn flights. If you are working a flight and the cleaners want to start spraying prior to the completion of the deplaning process, take a moment to remind the cleaning crew that no one is to be onboard the aircraft during the ESS process and that deplaning may take a few additional minutes due to the COVID-19 5 rows at a time safety precautions, then file an IOR, and immediately report the instance to AFA.

Additional information concerning this very important safety issue can be found in the ISW dated August 5, 2020. Questions can be directed to your Local Council Safety, Health, and Security Committee.
