MEC Grievance Committee JCBA Section 13.B
Given the volume and magnitude of the many changes that have occurred since October 1, 2018, we understand there are still questions
on some of the new processes. Calling on and off sick leave is one such process where there are many moving parts.
When contacting the company to call on sick leave for a pairing or Reserve day, Flight Attendants may either call the Flight Attendant Support Team (FAST) or use CCS to send in a sick notification.
The Sick Notification function in CCS can be accessed from Scheduling > Sick Notification.
To send a notification using CCS, you must do so by 0900 HDT of the calendar day prior to the scheduled pairing, training assignment or Reserve availability day.
Flight Attendants returning from sick leave must call the Flight Attendant Support Team
(FAST) in order to call off sick leave status. While this has been a standard procedure used by some of us in the past, it is a new procedure for others with the full implementation of Section 13.B. of our JCBA. Flight Attendants must follow the Call On/Call Off procedures anytime they will be calling to place themselves on sick leave or calling off of sick leave to return to duty.
NOTE: Flight Attendants who do not call FAST advising that she/he will be returning from sick leave status will remain on sick leave status until notifying the Company of their ability to return to work by calling off sick leave.
When you are ready to return to work, you must take yourself OFF sick leave by calling the same number. If you do not take yourself OFF sick leave, you will remain on sick leave and your trips will continue to fall off your schedule.
